I suppose it was on PZ, I've read the news from a Nikon executive telling that a mirrorless system could be on the way. This justifies the trend I think...

A long time ago Pentax and Minolta produced lenses for SLR's that supported manual and powered zoom, controlled by the ring on the lens. The only new idea here is the addition of zoom controls to the body, in what is likely to clutter Nikon cameras even further.
