Among my Canon lenses, my 10-22 was named Walther (for WA-lther : wide angle) and because it delivered like a real macho not even afraid of the sun. My 17-55 is just named erhmm 17-55 because as sharp and effective this lens is, I feel it has absolutely no charisma (IMHO, not wide enough, not longh enough, not light enough, not tight enough, not cheap enough...the list goes on, still like it, I guess). My 70-200 f4is is named "Lilly" nickname for "Little White". The Sigma 30EX is Sigfried but just because Sigfried sounds cool and sharp (undeservedly so ![]() This one is a she because it's small, poor but sexy (Berlin, anyone?). Haven't found her a name yet though!Maybe winnie? @Klaus, cheeky <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=' ![]() Greetings, S. preview: Olympus M.Zuiko 9-18mm f/4-5.6 ED - joachim - 06-15-2010
What's so bad about a centering check ? :-)
There is nothing wrong with a centering check every now and then. I didn't know you offered this service <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> I was more thinking, that you are more keen to test lenses with a lot of current interest than "last years fashion" <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=' ![]() preview: Olympus M.Zuiko 9-18mm f/4-5.6 ED - Klaus - 06-15-2010
There is nothing wrong with a centering check every now and then. You may have noticed that both dpreview as well as dslrgear have primarily tested micro-format lenses lately. The demand for information is surely not as high as for DSLRs but certainly higher than for classic 4/3, Pentax and also Sony Alpha. PS: I think it's a bit a of win-win situation - if someone purchases a new lens he can send it over for checking (and from our perspective for testing). In fact we've tested a couple of lenses that went straight back to the dealer to take advantage of the usual 14-day return policy. The latter works for German fellows only and we do really require a minimal sanity check by the owner. Tt doesn't make sense to test lenses with a known centering issue, of course. |
