I still expect to always find the "II" after the "...85mm f/1.2 L USM" Smile

After this lens review now I know every single corner of cockatoo island....

Hey, you didn't know that skull yet. ;-)

There are lenses out there who would consider themselves lucky to have the same peak performance in the image center as this lens in the corners at f/1.2 ...

The RF 50/1.2 was kind of an indication that they meant business... this time. And even in the EF land, the 85/1.2 was a lot better performing than the 50/1.2, so... Smile

The EF 85mm f/1.2 wasn't exceedingly hot. The EF 85mm f/1.4 IS is/was better.

What caught me with a little surprise today was the shitty Auto-ISO mode of the EOS R. It was very dark in places and for whatever reason, it sometimes suggested an ISO setting leaving me with 1/60sec ... which doesn't really guarantee critically sharp results with a 85mm lens on a 30mp sensor.

Seems you kept default settings, in the menu go to ISO speed settings (third tab to the left), first check ISO range if you instructed camera to stay in the 100-1600 range it will obey, obviously
then inside ISO speed settings choose minimum shutter speed, either you select a value or you set to auto
if you set to auto you have a slider zero is close to 1/focal set it to +1 and you will realize it works remarkably well on all lenses always opting for a fast enough shutter speed
