Meyer Optik Somnium 85mm f/1.5 II announced - davidmanze - 02-13-2018 Quote:@ Klaus - I would not spent time to review this lens - there are already plenty reviews of Russian version. If it's the same as the Helios 85 mm F1.5 Klaus has already reviewed it on this site..........see under Pentax, tested on the K10 the full scope of the lens's FOV lies beyond the APSc sensor, as does most of the bubble bokeh blur and all. To quote Klaus from the review: " I think the Helios would be a good boot camp for Rookies on a budget who want to explore the ultra-large aperture world" Somehow the new version at $1,000 doesn't seem appropriate for rookies on a budget! and yes built like the proverbial T34 tanks! Meyer Optik Somnium 85mm f/1.5 II announced - Klaus - 02-13-2018 Quote:@ Klaus - I would not spent time to review this lens - there are already plenty reviews of Russian version. Do you think I would buy an exotic lens with a resale value of zilch for testing? ;-) Meyer Optik Somnium 85mm f/1.5 II announced - Rover - 02-13-2018 I believe that everyone's needs - as far as 85mm focal length is concerned - are served by the Tamron VC. And in the E mount ecosystem the Sony f/1.8 looks like the steal of the century. Meyer Optik Somnium 85mm f/1.5 II announced - toni-a - 02-14-2018 Are they kidding, check this photo quite dreadful, you wonder if is correctly focused check the model eyes Such a bokeh is quite odd marketing a lens flaw as a characteristic....well If someone is dumb enough to pay money for such a lens, he deserves well his losses. Meyer Optik Somnium 85mm f/1.5 II announced - stoppingdown - 02-14-2018 Yes, it's crazy. I've seen just a handful of photos in which that kind of bokeh works, and they are not portraits, but landscapes where the bokeh pattern is repeating a similar structure in the foreground. It would be nice to have a lens for those rare cases (actually, as said above, Helios lenses do that), but I wouldn't spend such a great amount of money... Meyer Optik Somnium 85mm f/1.5 II announced - toni-a - 02-14-2018 considering a flaw as a characteristic ans making people pay money for it is insane, using a camera like 5Dmkiv any lens can do that in a customiseable way too Meyer Optik Somnium 85mm f/1.5 II announced - JJ_SO - 02-14-2018 No one is "making people pay money for it" - people pay or don't, and if they don't the show is over quickly. And if they do, it's out of free will. I just wonder how much comments this thing generates. |
