HD PENTAX-D FA MACRO 100mmF2.8ED AW - Kunzite - 10-21-2022

Yes, Pentax is alive - and they just announced a new lens: a new 100mm macro.
Compared to the old model:
+ this has newly designed optics, modern, with significantly reduced PF, using 1 ED and 2 Anomalous Dispersion glass elements (the old design didn't use any special glass elements)
+ the weather sealing was upgraded to AW (was WR on the old model)
+ it keeps the Limited-like appearance, and a lightweight, compact design - under 400g with the included hood, 49mm filters
+ affordable price, of 699 euro
- the AF is still screw drive, and there's no focus limiter.

The last part sort of stops me from wanting to replace my old FA. I guess they tried to keep cost under control, and I wouldn't be surprised if a good part of the barrel is identical to the old model.

Klaus:

Could we get a review of this, please?

This is a popular lens.

Thanks.

BTW ephotozine is frequently (in a relative sense) doing Pentax reviews. This time they posted one of the 10-17 fisheye that is better known as the Tokina. Sometimes they test some pretty old and rare stuff.
