New model, old IBIS, old EVF. Of course there are lots of other improvements, but I'd say IBIS and EVF are more important for many photographers.

Somewhat disappointing given the rumors - but then it's also quite affordable compared to the R7 and X-T5

RE: a6700 announced - stoppingdown - 07-12-2023

I see the price now. Well $1399 is much lower than some rumours alluded to.

“Sony Europe says the price will be around €1,700”. That's absurd.

RE: a6700 announced - Klaus - 07-13-2023

Here in Oz, it's 2499AUD (=1550EUR or 1700USD), including 10% sales tax.

That's 200AUD higher than for the A6600 - which seems reasonable given inflation.

Of course, nobody should buy stuff at the MSRP. After 3-4 months, the effective price tag will be 20% lower if you know where to look.

new sensor higher rez/faster readout less rolling shutter

........ same EVF .......

.........same rear screen from Sony's ten year old bottomless parts bin .....

........ half a dozen micro body tickles and the beat goes on .....

......... indiscernibly of course .......

RE: a6700 announced - stoppingdown - 07-13-2023

After four years, it's highly delusional. I'm not talking about my own perspective: for a camera body I'd be rather go after a cheaper model with inferior capabilities, just to replace the poor EVF of the a6000. But given that they stick with 2.36MP for the top APS-C model, it's quite clear we won't see anything better in a hypothetical new cheaper model. For people wanting the latest stuff, yes, you have a new sensor and improved AF in motion, but it just reduces the gap with the APS-C competition.

At least they finally have the good fully articulated screen.

Cold reactions so far:

BTW, I see that they removed two custom buttons, am I right? No C4, and the AF-ON/AE-L switch has disappeared.
