regardless of its performance, 10mm is rather extreme and I prefer keeping this area for fisheye lenses, as Klaus said for landscape it is too wide for architecture it is doing a good job, however check the lights how they are distorted in this picture to the left and to the right the perspective effect is here and there's nothing that can be done about it

Nothing can be done about it? There is software to correct this kind of volumetric distortion for fish eye lenses, Fisheye-Hemi:

And there is software to correct this kind of distortion for linear corrected wide angle lenses , DXO Viewpoint 2 or DXO Pro 9:

Not perfect correction, but it goes a long way.

its on my shopping list. I have also been eyeing the VM 15mm for use on a a7s. Really good value for around £250.
Unfortunately I don't have a A7 or £1k for the lens at the moment!

I would go not for OLD 12mm/15mm versions - it's likely that they run into reddish color shifts towards the borders.

they are fine on the a7s, Colour shifts are present on the a7 and a7r. Admittedly the cost saving on the older 15mm is offset by the premium the a7s commands over the a7.

If it wasn't for the tests, I would also go for the A7S (II). I, for one, don't know what to do with 42mp.

I'm waiting for the price of the A7s to come down a bit; it's stubbornly sticking around the £800 mark on ebay for the last year with no sign of decreasing.
