They offered this lens for testing but as of now they have no distribution network outside of China

Are you going to give it a try?

nope

Would be one more reason to snap up a ticket to Hong Kong. Smile

Why not give it a try?

Granted, these F/1.2s from China (Yongnuo, Mitakon, Kerlee, etc., in different FLs and adapter formats) all seem to look alike and borrow the lettering from Leica, and are all sharp in the centre, but it would be interesting to see if any are better than the established brands Smile. Pricing is modern too: similar to or even above the established Japanese 3rd party brands.

Kind regards, Wim

I can either test such lenses or the mainstream.

The Laowa 105mm (as well as the next Laowa) is an exception to the rule because I considered it to be special.

Most systems have a modern 35mm f/1.4 plus there's the Sigma 35mm f/1.4, Samyang 35mm f/1.4 and Zeiss 35mm f/1.4.

Thus this market segment is flooded with options.

FWIW, since you will ask anyway ... the next Laowa is this one:

That 11mm f4 from Irix, this 12mm 2.8 Laowa, interesting new developments.

The Kerlee 35mm f1.2 seems to be more than just another 35mm lens, when you look at the samples. It actually seems to have really smooth background bokeh. So, that, together with its f1.2-ness (which promisses a bit more blur) may set it apart from some/most competitors in the (fast) 35mm segment?
