FE 50/1.8, FE 70-300/4.5-5.6, RX10III - Kodachrome 25 - 03-29-2016

Nowadays you'll find press releases on dpreview first, while not on http://www.sony.com/en_us/SCA/company-news/press-releases/all/2016.html

50/1.8 and 70-300/4.5-5.6

RX10 III

The 50/1.8 looks like a "take it and shove it" release for those who have been incessantly bitching and moaning about the 55/1.8 being too expensive for a "nifty fifty" (which, incidentally, it was not...)

Here is the official release

The 50/1.8 looks nice for traveling

Arrrghh, it never stops.  Tongue

the 70-300 is of particular interest. They have changed the optical formula from the Sony 70-300mm F/4.5-5.6 G SSM:

I assume this to account for the shorter flange distance of the FE mount.

The MFTs look good too:

And to stop some people from blathering about "FE mount lenses being just SLR designs with inbuilt rear adapter... blah blah". The "Internet wise men" tried that with the 35/1.4 FE even though the cutaway shown by Sony had clearly shown this as false.

Incidentally, the 50/1.8 FE is probably a reused SLR design - sort of a cross between the Canon's and Nikon's recent 50/1.8 lenses. But I thought that's it.

At this price the 70-300mm better has to be bloody awesome ...

FE 50/1.8, FE 70-300/4.5-5.6, RX10III - Brightcolours - 04-07-2016

It is a bit cheaper than the Canon EF 70-300mm f4-5.6 L IS USM. Lighter too, but that should be expected with less glass inside.

4 aspheres in a zoom.  What a time to be alive.

Is this particularly challenging?
