So it is a DSLR lens instead of E-mount. Very nice! I wonder what the price will be like.. Also nice: they announce it will also be available for Pentax mount.

Well, almost everything can be E-mount anyway.

This lens doesn't feel affordable somehow ...

Depending on your definition of "affordable". At the moment I can't see the reason why the photographic world needs more manual focus lenses?

On the other hand, I can't see why manual focus is a problem with UWA? "The world" always will be open to better optics.

The deal is, it's full frame.  The quality looks great and it's combined focal length and aperture makes it a little special, now if it could be "el cheapo" into the bargain, it could be very tempting...... however if it's "costa bigga dosha"........ it "sleeps with the fishes"

Well... that's about what I was expecting (I couldn't have guessed the FL/aperture, of course). Next please.  ^_^

Wide open and with well corrected characteristics, it coul be great for night sky and Milky Way pictures. The fluorescent distance scale will become very handy for that while AF lenses usually are difficult to set up at night to infinity.

But in "normal" daylight photography, the fast aperture will be challenging for every non-LiveView focus setup.

Also it must be remembered it's got good competition from the Samyang 14 F2.8; a lens that produced exceptional resolution, it's only flaw was distortion, which when corrected brought it to a similar 15mm FL.

The Samyang is cheap as chips!
