Dustin Abbott was quite happy with the IQ of the lens, even on high resolution bodies: "The XF 8mm is small enough to fit on the smaller X cameras while being strong enough optically to work on the high resolution monsters.".

The corners never get very sharp, but it's descent IMO, especially given the extreme focal length and very small lens size.

EPZ has reviewed it and the edges are really not that hot. At least until stopped down to at least f/5.6.

But then again, it's a very compact 8mm lens with a 62mm filter thread... Something just had to give.
