http://www.opticallimits.com/nikon_ff/584-zeisszf1835ff
Hi Markus Why do you call the MTF performance of that lens "impressive"? It's worse than the 14-24/2.8 at that focal length, and the prime is even a bit slower wide open. Plus it's not exactly cheap either... And thanks for the reviews! <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Why do you call the MTF performance of that lens "impressive"?
Well, ok, "impressive" is probably not the best choice. It's no doubt a very good ultra wide angle, but in this segment of course any candidate seems to live in the shadow of the 14-24. However, though not cheap, the ZF 18 is a lot smaller and lighter. I changed it to "very good". -- Markus

bit surprise it did as well as it did in the scoring; given high vig (rather common for ultra wide i suppose) and high ca. Generally speaking this is the least regarded lens of zeiss offering (though there are quite a few who ding the 25 and 28).
