Good but not quite as good as on APS-C.

Your review judges the lens even a bit better than I

expected (at least for FF) ...

there is a "graphical" typo in the verdict ...

optical quality: "3* to 3*" ... more likely you meant "2+* to 3*"

I'm happy with mine on a 5d.

So, bring on the L version, and let's see what 3 times the price will get you.

And testing the EF 100-400 4.5/5.6L and EF 300 4.0L IS as well because these two lenses are often compared to the lenses (70-200 4.0L IS, 70-200 2.8L IS, 70-300 4.5/5.6DO IS, 70-300 4.0/5.6IS) that are already reviewed.

Thanks in advance! <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tongue' />

Best regards,

Does this test indicate that the 70-300 IS will also perform quite well on a high-megapixel APS-C body like the 550D or 60D? I still have Canon glass (including this zoom lens) and consider the purchase of a new Canon body because there are still no good & small lenses for the Sony NEX and only 1 or 2 good lenses for my E-PL1.

I will have a look (actually I did a brief test on the 50D) but this may take a couple of days.

Any news? Do I have to dispose of my 70-300 IS? <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />

Looks quite good - similar to the 55-250 IS.
