60D Vari-angle LCD is stable for long term use?
#1
Next year I'm buying my first new DSLR. I did the research and thought to go for 550D/T2i with 18-135 IS. But this new 60D is blowing my mind. I know the specifications, advantages and all. No need to compare the both specification for me. What i need to know is That Vari-angle LCD comes with 60D will stable for long year use? Because i'm putting all my money for this and i want to use it for long time. If that Vari-angle LCD is not solid then i'm planing to go for 550D. Because i like the Vari-angle LCD that's why i decided to go for 60D but if that broke or failed in some year.. Having fixed is better than defecated one.. Some one advice me.. I had bad experience with flip mobile phone and laptop hinge.. Thats why i always choose candy bar phones and tablet pc's. I like rotating flexibility but that fail time to time.. so advice me friends.

Canon has been making decent articulate screens for the longest time since the good old G1 days. Apart from Panasonic, no one can make sensible articulate screens on cameras like Canon. That said, I cannot be sure how tough the 60D articulate screen is going to be. But if it's anywhere as durable as the one on the Canon S1 (ya... a dinosaur), I'll be impressed. <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

If I were you, I wouldn't have such concerns... You won't have to use this functionality for all kind of shots; mostly for macro and lancscape, other that these it will stay rest... And believe me, if you are tall enough and have problems concerning belly fat, this functionality is something that is desperately Iooked for (especially concerning the low-level-tripod landscape shots).

Kind regards,

Hi there,

With normal usage the screen will last a long time. I own an old G3 from Canon, which is 6 years old I think and the screen still works like new.

I think a vari-angle(or articulated) screen is great. You can take photographs from angle you normally couldn't, without hurting yourself.

Good luck!

Best wishes,

Reinier
