while it makes more sense to make it for EOS M
if it is RF only that means Canon don't care anymore for EOS-M
The rumor is specifically about an R-mount speedbooster, IOW, to connect to an R body.
I would expect that to work with crop video on FF bodies, and who knows, maybe there will be an R crop body at some stage.

It certainly won't be an R->R or R to whatever mount body, basically because there is no or not enough space between the lens mount and the body mount to fit the optical stack required between lens and MILC body. Even with the Nikon Z that would not be possible, as a decent speedbooster requires about 20 mm of optical stack and mounts or more, and even then protrudes into the body.

IOW, this would be an EF lens to R-body speedbooster, either for an R crop body, or else to be used with a crop video format on an R body, like the EOS R itself.

Kind regards, Wim
Gear: Canon EOS R with 3 primes and 2 zooms, 4 EF-R adapters, Canon EOS 5 (analog), 9 Canon EF primes, a lone Canon EF zoom, 2 extenders, 2 converters, tubes; Olympus OM-D 1 Mk II & Pen F with 12 primes, 6 zooms, and 3 Metabones EF-MFT adapters ....

Lastest rumours suggest there is a APS-C RF body coming, maybe the 7D II replacement.
