I’d like to mention again , even if I repeat myself if.
Who cares about 35mm equivalent?
- I have never seen picture taken with large or MF camera and saying the 35mm equalent. I assume that nobody interested seriously in photography wants to know the 35mm equ.
- In compact segment there are plenty of camera giving the 35mm equivalent, but I wonder who really understand that, except small group of technically savvy people.
Personally for me 35mm have no meaning. Lets take as example the discussion above. 85/1,4 35mm equivalent has no meaning for me since I have never touch 85/1,4 in old film days.
It looks for me that comapring different format is a big source of confusion. Even more - a lot of peple talk about 35mm equ. , but only few of them know what actuually means.

Well, you still want to know what a 8.5mm f/1.9 is actually, don't you?
Whether you are taking the FF equiv. or the equiv. to your current mainstream system is meaningless - you just need a framework for comparison.
You can also say that Pentax Q has a 3.6x crop compared to your APS-C setup. In this case it is equivalent to a 31mm f/6.9 APS-C lens (which is still equivalent to a 46mm f/10.4 full format lens).
