As mentioned before, this is for one application. Of course I did get the 5D2 for other reasons but that does not preclude me from making more use of it.

As mentioned before, I used to have a Tamron 28-75 and I didn't like it at all. I wouldn't go near another one.

In a very quick look so far I only found one place selling it for far more than I'm willing to consider, but will keep that option open. Canon UK have cashback running on various lenses anyway so I'm still pricing up the 24-70L... if I can leave it late enough maybe they'll have announced the II by then.
