Every camera company, including Canon and Nikon, brings out new bodies at top price and let it slide gradually until the end of its marketing life. You can guarantee the 5D3 when it is released will cost a LOT more than the 5D2 does now. Of course the big question is how much more... the list price when the 5D2 came out may serve as indicator, and is perhaps 66% more than the best street price of the 5D2 right now in the UK at least.
Anyway, I'd expect the 5D3 and D800 to not be that dissimilar in price to each other when they're out, unless either company does a significant repositioning. Going on the best current rumours they may swap positions on relative MP count and that may make things more interesting.
