I don't like it either. However, there are simply numerous complaints about the lack of such a feature.

I think it's a potentially useful feature, and don't think you need to worry too much about the reviews being 'dumbed down' by it. <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='

It will give a useful first place to check out potential lenses, and quick reference to refer back to when people have read several reviews in detail.
The search feature already appears to work quickly and effectively to filter on the lens text field, e.g. typing in a number for FL or f/ value, or by class - e.g. typing UL - quickly filters to that class.
How limited is the standard table format? No more columns? If there was one more, format might be useful - or are you going to have a table, by manufacturer, for each format (Canon FF, APS-C, etc...)..?
One disadvantage with that approach is that if I'm looking for reviews of all lenses, including third-party, in a certain category, I'd have to switch between tables to have an overview of all available lenses which PZ have tested, as now between Canon and Nikon tests (I think there are still many more third-party lens tests in Canon APS-C than in Nikon APS-C).
One table each for all APS-C, FF, etc would work.
