A terrific site to read, although it won't get technical in any way and cannot be regarded as a how-to, is http://theonlinephotographer.typepad.com/the_online_photographer/
Very nicely written about the philosophy of photography. It's a daily read that will grow on you, most certainly, as you get to "know" its author and his habits, Mike Johnston (the man has been editor in many paper magazines as well).
It's not your "average" blog, it is professional blogging.
