I just found CCDInspector which is intended for analysing astro-imaging CDD output, but it works on images from other sources too. So I put in a couple of my earlier star shots and see what it made of it.



Following are examples of curvature visualisation it gave with some sample images I fed it.

Ok, not quite as straight a diagonal as I thought I was seeing but it probably is mixed with any lens effects I might have overlooked myself. Note these images are raw processed so the level mapping would probably have some effect on the perceived size of blur which I think is measured here using some intensity profile.



I think this confirms I need to fix something, although I didn't have time to look at it last weekend it'll remain on the "to do" list. I might put it off actually, as I just got some new narrowband filters today so I'd rather not attack the camera before I get to use them!
