The AF-S 85mm f/1.4 - believe it or not - as NOT a ring type motor but a piezo micro motor. This is also valid for the 24mm f/1.4. Dissembling has been done in the nikongear forum with several lenses. The AF-S 50mm f/1.4 has a ring type motor, despite its less-than-fast speed. I guess this has something to do with cost cutting measures in combination with necessary precision. I guess the 85mm f/1.8 won't have a ring type motor as well. The Sigma, on the other hand... my guess is that is has a ring type motor.
