I heard that Ansel Adams can pop up 15-16 stops DR from black and white films with his special post-processing techniques. <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='

' /> You can't get more dynamic range than what is on the film itself. BW film has higher dynamic range though, than colour film. Ansel Adams is known/liked for his very contrasty prints going from totally white to totally black. By definition, high dynamic range means low contrast. Prints have a DR of about 5 EV.
