I just recently looked it up (due to the latest NEX5 superzoom test here).
That image on dpreview is extremely soft in the corners, but I don't really care much about that.
I think it is a worse problem that the center is also not good, it has this CA-ish look to the whole image that makes my head hurt <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='

Shame, I really wanted to like it as "good enough". For a snapshot camera I don't care that much about the corners, but wide-open it just doesn't look acceptable.

I go for the best lenses and when it comes to measurements and resolution tests, I go to the extent of getting hold of the lenses and doing them myself because I'm _that_ pedantic and extremely technical about things. So all I can say is you guys are completely missing out because of dpreview('s incompetence) and it's a sad thing to see.
The Nex-5 + 16mm is a fantastic combo and yes, it's sharp wide open and f/2.8 is the only aperture I use! My usual/previous favourite was the 5D2+24L II*... yes... so I do have standards when I say that <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='

GTW
* which I still have for more demanding shots but haven't even taken out once since I got the Nex around a month ago
