All I can say is that the Nikkor 24-70 is a safe bet on the D800, works very well and I have an impression that the AF performance is a bit better then in the D700 (accuracy, speed in average tungsten light); whether Tamron can match that performance I have no clue, but for reliability I'd stick with Nikon. The Tammy 17-50 with image stabilization had a lot of bad press here, I mean reported issues as to quality problems..
The 16-35VR - not so cool on the D800 but does the job..

Aside of the lenses topic - although that's not real testing, just my impressions after some days of using the D800 with those lenses, it is not just the resolution that makes the difference (compared to D700) - it's the image rendering as a whole thing, the tonality beeing apparently wider and even the OOF rendering a bit nicer to my eyes; I hope it's not me seeing the grass greener then it actually is <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='
