I doubt any 500/4 lens from any manufacturer sells in huge numbers, other than more body owners will tend to mean more lens sales. Sony needed this, and there will be many who will be happy it is now available and will get it. Despite what some older fanboys might say, you can't live off Minolta lenses forever and there needs to be a modern choice.



Having said that, I suppose there is a bigger question what Sony's plans are regarding the alpha vs E mount going forwards.
