perfect travel kit

Hi,

just want to share my experiences on my long way to the perfect travel setup.

I want lightweight and compact, superzoom (with stabilizer) and good IQ.

I tried:

- Canon EOS 40D with Sigma 18-200 OS and Canon 18-200 IS

- Panasonic G1 with Leica 14-150 OIS (via adapter)

- Nikon D7000 with Nikkor 18-200 VR

I endet up with:

- Sony NEX 5 with E 18-200 OSS

The combination Sony NEX5 with E 18-200 OSS has the best IQ, followed by Nikon and Leica, then Sigma and worst Canon. Order of mechanical quality is the same (Leica better than Nikon).

Lens alone would place Leica on top, but the NEX sensor is far better. (I didn't try G3 or GH2)

The combination Sony NEX5 with E 18-200 OSS is the most compact. And I can add 2,8/16 with Sony Ultra Wide Converter on my NEX 3. IQ of 2,8/16 with converter (2,8/12) is BETTER than 2,8/16 alone! You just have to stop down to 4,5 or 5,6 and IQ is very good. (IQ at 2,8 is awful). AND I can use my beloved Zeiss G lenses with adapter - and focus peaking! I'm in heaven! Now I need NEX 5N or NEX 7 ;-)
