With a pellicle mirror and EVF, the camera could actually eb less high and still provide blazingly fast AF with lots of AF points. Thisbecause the AF system could either reside directly behind the mirror or above it where the focusing screen is now, and obvious the sensor assembly would have to be in the other place, either behind pellicle mirror or where the focusing screen is. This would also provide for extra room either in the "pentaprisma" housing, or in the area behind the mirror, so that maybe some more electronics could be moved there, providing more space for e.g. a larger battery, or even a narrower camera if the battery would stay the same size.



Would we gain much with current technology, size wise? Probably not, but imagine a camera less wide than the 5D II, probably by about 5 or 6 mm, and less high as well, by about 2 or 3 mm (maybe a little more if the pentaprism housing could be made less high too), however with the AF system of a 1D Mk IV <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />. Since the mirror doesn't have to move anymore, it could probably do 20 fps too, if the processor(s) is(are) up to it too. Although with those specs, you'd probably need a lot more battery <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />.



Personally, I would want an EVF with a resolution at least in the full HD category, with no visible or noticeable ghosting before I would consider such a system... <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />.
