Is it me just imagining things, or DSLR manufacturers really are a little bit superstitious? Like, using lucky number 7 in cameras they hope would turn tables in the DSLR market. For instance:
Nikon D70 - to steal the limelight from Canon 300D.
Nikon D700 - to end Canon's 5D reign.
Pentax K-7 - to get Pentax back into the race.
Canon 7D - to rain on Nikon's D300 parade.
Sony A700 - to get a foot in the semi-pro segment, dominated by Canon and Nikon.
Or not? :-)

The 3!
Canon D30 - to break the price barrier for DSLRs till that point, a camera to give Canon a jump on the competition price wise.
Olympus E-300 - Olympus' bid for entry DSLR supremacy.
Canon 300D - to bring down the price of DSLR-bliss down to under the $/€1000 barrier.
Nikon D300 - to bring an end to Canon's lonely at the high ISO low noise CMOS top position.
Nikon D3 - to bring an end to Canon's full frame monopoly and Nikon's own dogma of "we will never go full frame and believe in the strength of DX"
Nikon D3x - to give the Canon 1Ds mk III competition, finally
No, the 1!
Nikon D1(x/h) - Nikon's vision of how high end DSLRs should be
Canon 1D(s) - Canon's vision of how high end DSLRs should be
Canon 1000D - to show up the lame Nikon D40-D60 line
Or.. NO! The 5!
Konica Minolta 5D - finally playing in the so important sub 1000 ($/€) segment!
Sony A500/550 - the appointed big marketshare maker for Sony in the so important feature complete entry level
Canon 5D - to break through the high price points of full frame DSLRs till that date.
Canon 550D - To again assume market segment dominance with a model that is very feature complete and surprisingly capable, with advanced video for entry level.
Nikon D5000 - to diversify the bottom end of the line up, to try and gain or keep marketshare.
And so on <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' />
