Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8 USM L IS vs EF 70-200mm f/2.8 USM L IS III
#3
You then could say that all 70-200mm f2.8 lenses are fairly similar....

On this level, the improvement is more than "slight". So, a nicely sharp lens, like the latest F-mount Nikkor.

What is less nice:
The EF lens remains close to 200mm at MFD, which results in a narrowing FOV. This shows in the specs: magnification 0.21x at 1.2m MFD.
The RF lens... not so close to 200mm. Magnification 0.23x at... 0.7m MFD. Not as nice for people who like the narrow FOV at closeups (like me). Kind of like the EF 70-300mm f4-5.6 L IS USM: magnification 0.21 at 1.2 meters (for 300mm...). I already "feared" that, when we first saw the shortness of the RF lens.

So, to get a similar narrow field of view as the EF 70-200mm f2.8/f4 lenses for close ups, you wil have to add the right amount of extension tubing to this new RF lens. Basically as bad as the "VR II" Nikkor and Tamron.

Highlight (besides the low weight and small size for the type of lens) appears to be the bokeh, which looks to be as smooth as that of my EF 70-200mm f4 L USM (which is why I still love using that lens).
