Nature doesn't use glass, our eyes contain such a lens (the crystalline lens) advantages are obvious...
As are the disadvantages - an eye scans and refocuses all the time, you see only part of the image you are looking at in focus, and the brain makes up for that in nature.

It may work well enough for a small sensor, like in a mobile, but I think we are still quite a few years off from use in large lenses for larger sensors.
There are a few more disadvantages, such as the element that holds the fluid. It is guaranteed to polarize the light to some degree if it uses some kind of plastic, unlike optical glass. It will likely also be less sharp than glass, certainly for the foreseeable future.

Kind regards, Wim
Gear: Canon EOS R with 3 primes and 2 zooms, 4 EF-R adapters, Canon EOS 5 (analog), 9 Canon EF primes, a lone Canon EF zoom, 2 extenders, 2 converters, tubes; Olympus OM-D 1 Mk II & Pen F with 12 primes, 6 zooms, and 3 Metabones EF-MFT adapters ....
