It seems to me, that this DOF-Calculator might need
some improvement ... at least, if I use the numbers
and settings it starts with (7D,50mm,f/2.8,2.5,4,10)
and then click "calculate", it does absolutely nothing.
Also, if I change the settings to something reasonable
and then click calculate, absolutely nothing happens.
The only visible reaction is when I click the "reset" button.
So, for now, I will stay with the wellknown ...
http://www.dofmaster.com/dofjs.html
... which at least does what I ask.
So, it seems, there is always a bit room for improvement.
Just my 2cts ... Rainer
PS: I should add, that the browser in use was a Firefox 3.6.8
with javascript enabled.
Yep, I have the same Problem - using FF 3.0.17...

I'm sorry very much.
I am confirming operation with IE8.0, firefox3.68, and safari5.0.
However, I who had remained Japanese in the program because of the comment corrected it.
I'm sorry, could you try again?

Will you also operate these?

I don't see any improvement over the first version.
I tried all three links again ... the first remains unchanged for me...
the latter two have each and everything covered in strange characters ...
I assume it would be japanese signs but my browser is unable to
display them.
(The image of the lady has improved a little in the last link though ;-) )
My suggestion is, you download firefox in an english version and
install it parallel to your standard japanese version (which should be
possible if you select user defined settings when installing). Then you
can retry most things directly.

I tried advising in firefox English version.
This program did not move.
Two byte characters other than the program were removed, and it came to move.
Thank you.

Now, this works ... if your calculation of the
blur is correct, this is a definate improvement over
other calculators (like the one I linked) that only
sipply numerical output.
There is one effect that you might integrate into
your calculation ... that is diffraction ... especially
with smaller sensors, this effect becomes an
important and visible factor relatively soon.

Worked for me fine (Safari, Mac). One little bug: you can have the background in front of your subject, then it looks funny. Perhaps a numerical check to make sure background is behind subjects?
Correction. It doesn't quite work correctly. I first changed the focal lengths, and that seemed to work fine.
However, when I do nothing else but change from F 2.8 to f1.8, it first works, but then the image gets updated only sporadically.
I.e. the graph at the bottom is updated (when I click the calculate button), but the image at the right not always.
Sometimes it gets updated when I press the enter key on the keyboard, instead of the "calculate" button.

Further update: It looks like it works. The impression that it is not updated changing from 2.8 to f1.8 and back and forth was that I didn't notice the small changes in the background, because, when you start out, the background is sharp, and I immediately associated it with the default values that are set in the panel when you come to that web site, which is not true.
