So it will be released in E-mount after all. I remember we were discussing the possibility a few month ago, after it was announced in Canon RF mount.
Not my cup of tea due to MF but will probably be good, or at least not as iffy as many other ultra-super-mega-hyper-fast MF lenses (my guilty pleasure is reading reviews of those on phillipreeve.net at times).

I'd say that it is quite a feat - but in real life, an 85mm f/1.4 will almost give you the same DOF with fewer issues at max aperture.

Yeah, but 50mm is a very different focal length after all. I admit my 45mm is used less than the 85mm, but it still has its share of action when I carry both (with the 16-35 at the low end for a lightweight kit to shoot in the Hermitage... I don't need a 70-200 there).
