System camera sales are now down 50% from its peak in 2012/2013

I'm not surprised if *a* phone can beat *a* DSLR in some scenarios. Especially if the DSLR chosen to compete against isn't one particularly optimised for video. Even then, what types of video? It is very different trying to shoot the next Hollywood blockbuster than some social event.

I'm still very much of the "use the right tool for the job" mindset. Of course, if the "good enough" bar is set low enough, then a lot can be possible in one package.

I've long wondered if there is a niche for a small sensor system camera. By small, I mean even smaller than the Pentax Q, or Nikon 1 series. A mobile phone might be the best place for that to happen if the mechanics are done right. Personally I think it would still be better for 99% of users if someone could come up with a good zoom lens solution for mobile phones e.g. possibly through folded light paths so you avoid the bulge.
