Canon EF 24-105 f/4 L vs 24-70 f/2.8 L I (not II) on APS-C
#1
Hi everyone,

I am quite new in photography :-) I currently own a Canon EOS 1000D (Eos Rebel XS), a Sigma 10-20mm F4-5.6 EX DC HSM, a Canon 35 f2, a Canon 50 f/1.4... I am looking to buy a used lens to add to the other ones...

I saw once the Canon EF 24-105 f/4 and quite liked it but then I started wondering about the 24-70 f/2-8 L I (not the IInd one) and began to be quite a bit unsure... That is because in december 2014 I am planning to buy a telephoto lens and in the forthcoming years I might buy a FF camera so I would like something not restricted to APS-c...

What would you suggest?

Thank you very much for your kind attention!

I wouldn't get the original 24-70L, it's incredibly heavy and chunky for a standard zoom.  It would completely control the balance on an XS and be very awkward until (if ever!) it's on a full camera.
