I think what's Loup means here is that you don't seem to be getting anything "better" for the money.
The difference with your example here is that with a sports car or a luxury car, you're buying something distinctly exceeding "normal" products one way or another and I don't mean on price. Horsepower, equipment, comfort, sound insulation,etc... While it's not clear, *for many people*, that you're buying anything more "advanced" with a Leica M. Save for the "smallest FF camera", which I think is a valid point. Some luxury items stand out because they're cutting edge and as such, get the high price tag. Some don't, or perhaps just less obviously.
Anyway, the M is kinda interesting but they might be playing a dangerous game by adding newer fashionable bells & whistles that make all the more comparable to competitors : they might just lose that exclusivity <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Well, I think that the build quality and the used materials are a USP. Not to mention the dreaded limited editions. I don't want to defense Leica prices here but we have to recognize that their business plan works out. That's just a matter of fact.
