Bravo Sony.

It is just a little text some guy typed up.

Now, two things are silly (at least 2 things) with this little "rumor".

One, the E-mount does not leave much room for a FF-sensor:

Especially is that FF sensor has to have SSS.

The other problem is that E-mount lenses are APS-C size. A-mount lenses which are FF size have a big register distance, so one has to make the camera bigger with an adapter to use them.

Not a very likely rumor.

Sony have historically been very bad at keeping their plans to themselves. Rumours have had a pretty good record there.

I think it makes good sense to have an oversized sensor in an E-mount body. The adapter is trivial after that. The only question then is, how big mount diameter is big enough? Using the image earlier, the E-mount opening appears more then big enough to accommodate a FF sensor.

A bit silly, that article. One only has to look at the electrical contacts to realize that there is no room between sensor and contacts to make an FF sensor possible.

Also, he totally ignores the fact that the lens itself has a mount too, which has to fit inside the camera mount. Funny.

The Nex camera actually shows the room taken by the lens mount, it is the black circle in the plastic. Further more, notice the grey area around the sensor? That is the room needed for SSS to move the sensor around.

Of course, Sony could go for replaceable mounts <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tongue' />

NEX cameras don't have SSS.

Thanks for correcting me on that. That is even stranger then, no in body IS and a full frame DSLR lens range without any optical IS.

NEX system (E-mount) has stabilized lenses. Alpha system (A-mount) has stabilized bodies (and a few stabilized lenses made by Sigma, for those who care for that).

Actually I've heard someone say - on Sonyalpharumors.com probably - that the E mount is mechanically very similar to Nikon F mount, to the point that "dumb" stuff like bellows is usable. But don't call me out on that.

Initially there were reports of some hybrid mount of sorts. Who knows, might be a fun idea.
