Von Zeit zu Zeit würde der Motor einfach ausgehen und Sie müßten ihn neu starten.

Well done Canon. I tought that this invetion was patented by Microsoft.
btw:any mistakes can be hidden or even worse - masked by the firmware isn't it?

I assume the updated firmware will do a focusing engine reset if it can't focus with the lens. Since this only happens with the camera turned on and the lens barrel being pressed wrongly, I don't see the problem, to be very honest.
There was a problem a few years ago with 40D and 85L and 85L II, which was also solved in firmware. I just hope they'll fix this faster than that particular problem. I can assure you that that was a real problem - one could shoot 5 or 6 times with the 85L, and then the camera would just shut down. And at most one could get up to 40 shots from a single, fully charged battery, by removing it when the above would happen. I did a trial, and with such a battery I could still shoot 2500+ images with any other lens.
In short, all is relative.
Kind regards, Wim
