I stumbled across this thread via google search to see images of old legacy 135mm 1.8 lenses. First of all, I think the images are wonderful, and the bokeh is unique and beautiful.
I was extremely surprised by the responses and replies that I read, a lot of them saying that the bokeh is not good. What is good? What is bad? I think of lenses as paint brushes, each will have its own unique stroke, and each lens will have its own rendering. Depending on your style of photography (or painting) you may like some brushes over others, but that doesn't make others bad in anyway.
If all lenses rendered the same way, and the bokeh, sharpness, rendering, color and contrast were all very similar, why would we need different lenses? perhaps just for compression?
Finally, a lens is just a tool, and does what it does, however its up to the skills of the photographer to employ that tool to create images with his/her own unique vision......
Apologize if I upset anyone, but I think that these are beautiful images that show the characteristics of this lens very nicely. Beautiful light and model!
