Oh, you bet. Especially if it's as unique as this Tamron (or the Sigma 12-24, 120-300 OS, etc.) I'm happily using a Sigma 14mm lens - not exactly a cheap item in itself - and never yearned for the L (maybe I was helped by the fact that the L is 3x the price <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Big Grin' />)



Maybe it's time to put the notion of equalizing third party lenses with low quality to rest. In the past, Sigma and Tamron have been making some horrible junk but so has Canon for example (think the 75-300 or the old kit zooms... "silver ring for a luxury touch" anyone? Thankfully every manufacturer looks set to increase quality.
