This discussion sounds very technical. Can somebody kindly provide some sample images for CA, LoCA, PF, etc (when they can be clearly identified), like the following one for LoCA? This will make the concepts more intuitive for non-professionals <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

We moved somewhat away from the "LoCA" description again. Nowadays we are using "Bokeh Fringing" (BF) here. Technically LoCAs are part of BF but BF is a broader term.
Here's an example for Purple Fringing (PF):

The water is "sharp" (=in focus) yet the bright spots are surrounded by these fuzzy purple halos.
These are "Lateral CAs" (to the left):

The quadrant is in focus yet it shows these distinctive (non-fuzzy) color shadows. The colors are different depending on the side of the quadrant. Lateral CAs are either yellow/blue or red/green.
