Maybe you would like to rethink the A77? I would call myself an experienced pixel peeper, and I don't see so far any unusual or specific problems with the A77 sensor in combination with alpha lenses. Border and far corner resolution is as expected for the lenses I have examined so far on my relatively new A77. For illustration I insert an image here which shows the outermost 100%-crop (top-left) of the Sony AF50/1.4 (@F4) on the A77:

And as a small contribution to the original topic, the SAL1650: I have two of these lenses sitting on my desk here, however, none of them is fully satisfactory regarding centering. One performs very well on far distant subjects, one very well on close distance. Oh my... which one to keep...
