I thought they made progress since the D70 - doesn't look like it. Was the key reason for me to go Olympus back then. Would have been such a cool picture. Any chance in cloning that away?

Why does anyone buy one in that case? This is a total disaster. Suppose a working wedding pro comes home with that and has to.clone it all away...
I am sure he/she wishes to have used something else, even if some other aspect is inferior.
Can Markus' image be helped by the Nikon dust map software?

Well, it's not a total disaster, IMO. Using the D3x requires a little more discipline regarding regular cleaning (just as with any other DSLR in the years before). It is, however, certainly annoying, yes.
Anyone with F mount lenses who actually needs the high resolution of 24 MP has no other choice than the D3x (at least for a few more days, it seems). A wedding pro would most likely prefer to use a D3s, though, because of the much better high ISO performance.

….needs an oil change….
….i was rather thinking of a slightly more modern (well, turn of the 21st century) ultrasonic cleaning might be the go, but possibly this might not help with oil stains ;-)

Sorry for the backlight... actually, I found it way too cold to grab the camera and shoot, even though Alexander probably would have called it a mild spring day <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='
