Well, the D700 is a scaled down D3, while the upcoming D800 is expected to be a high resolution camera that doesn't share the sensor with the D4, but lives in (or starts) its own market segment (together with the 5D III).
The price will most likely be quite high, they could however just continue to sell the D700 (like they do with the D90 after the D7000 was announced).
