However, as life sometimes goes I by error happened to buy a Sony NEX-5 body ...



I find that the body is quite capable image-wise but if I keep it I would like to use other lenses than the standard kit lenses.



I'm quite attracted to Canon lenses (mainly EOS types), but as far as I understand there may be some "quirks" using EOS lenses on a Sony NEX body (e.g. manually setting aperture is not possible/difficult). Anyone here have experience with this?



On the other hand if I think positive about this, having a camera body where I'll have to focus manually might also open up for selecting completely different lenses of potentially very high quality and at reasonable price-levels. Thus, I hope I ask you for suggestions for an appr. 18-55 mm zoom lens compatible with the NEX-5 & a 50 mm fixed lens of prime quality - at reasonable second-hand prices ... (might I use Canon EOS lenses?)
