I'd also go with Brightcolours' suggestions except I'd say if you did go Canon 10-22, skip the hood as they're practically pointless on anything half wide.

I concur with these comments. The hood of the 10-22 is so wide, it's just a pain to carry around, so it stays at home. The Sigma 10-20 f4-5.6 is a reasonable alternative for lower budgets.
