Wheather "ergonomics" are lousy or not, depends on personal preferences. Some people love it, especially now that you can customize most buttons to your own needs. CDAF AF is not as fast for action as PDAF, but it is more accurate with no front/back focus issues. Not everyone needs tele lenses like 70-200mm f4 and 200mm f2.8. EVF has it's own advantages over OVF.
All said and done, Nex is significantly smaller than a DSLR (especially with prime lenses), and in most cases, it has better IQ than average APSC DSLR.
