Just that on Canon the TS-E 17 beats it again, IMO anyway, and it has auto aperture <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />.
In that case, by all means, do look into the Voigtländer 20, it is a better lens than the Nikon 20, I hear from my friends who use Nikon. Same with the Canon 20, though - they are both old (school) designs.

As you well know, "the best" is a relative thing <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> For me it means discreet, filter ability and very good optiques. If it is not THE absolute best in terms of resolution, who cares, as long as it is good. I am trying to become a better photographer and I really believe primes help me in that effort. I think the Nikon 20, the Voigtlander 20, the Zeiss 18 or 21 and even the Samyang 14 all would fill that function, but maybe I will be lazy and choose an AF lens, which would leave me with the Nikon <img src='http://forum.photozone.de/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='
