You are right to “give up”. But you had the chance to do so when I said that I would have a think about sending the lens.



You just couldn’t help yourself and wanted to have a parting shot with “Agree, this is over! You loose all credibility when you refuse to ship the lense! Frankly, this is ridiculous pollution of the site!”

Yes?



But this is not even half of why I am so irate. Let me pull out some of the classic comments about this lens from a previous thread.



“Wow, what a shit lens indeed! I didn´t expect miracles of course but this is real shit seeing its performance... Why does Nikon offers such rubbish yet..? It is just spoiling the brand reputation.”



Does this person have any idea what he’s talking about? Real shit?



Clearly, the person does not own the lens. And when I come and say “Hang on, I’ve got a number of really nice shots with this lens, would you like to have a look”? What is the reply?



Don’t bother, just send the lens to PZ and they will verify everything.



Do you see where this leads to?



It has nothing to do with me having “nice photos” to quote you. It’s about saying to people “Hey, don’t judge a lens by a set of numbers unless and until you can actually see real results”.



In the abovementioned thread, someone suggested “I think that it would be interesting to take a number of shots of various subjects using this lens as well as another much higher rated lens all on the same body, same focal length, camera settings etc and see if people can pick associate the correct lens with the image. I have a feeling that most people would not be able to tell the difference with a high rate of accuracy.”



What was the response? Nothing.



Some of you should go and read what you wrote! You will be amazed at the non-sense that was written.



And now you want me to give you all a break?



I’m not kidding myself in thinking that I have a wonder lens. No way, far from it. But the price I paid for (135 pounds) has been well worth it because it is the only affordable lens for both my D300 and some Velvia that I shoot.



I am in no way suggesting that PZ got the numbers wrong by using a false methodology. They got what they got. But by putting a 1-star (or was it half a star) on the lens, they have put into people’s heads that a lens like this is best used for what,…...a coffee mug?



Do you get it now? I will leave you with one of the more sensible comments in that thread.
