Wow, that was rather pointless... Markus has been nothing but graceful to you. And then you talk about sending him YOUR lens to have another copy to test, without even having asked him the address yet.
And then you "decide" not to send in the lens because you do not like (a) post(s) from just a posting member of the forums who has no affiliation to PZ or Markus? You never were actually going to lens Markus your lens, were you?
Just like how you reacted to my posts... I kept pointing out that the samples you were posting did not in any way prove the data Markus measured to be wrong, and I gave a possible reason for the bad results you seems to be getting. You kept on avoiding the points I made, which were actually quite constructive (I did not say anywhere the 18-35mm can not be better than the sample Markus tested), and I also pointed out that PZ tests on certain criteria and that those do NOT have to match a particular photographer's criteria.
Oh well... A shame.
And another point, PZ has been attacked before for rating lenses low, but people have to understand that PZ rate lenses on specific measurements, also wide open and also in corners, even if those are not always valid for the particular use/character of a lens (see for instance the review of the Canon EF 50mm f1.2 L USM). Not hard to understand that the ratings are based on specific points, and that those do not have to coincide with yours.
I hope you will cool down, and indeed, will reconsider and lens your lens to Markus to test. Many have gone before you and lent a lens out to PZ for evaluation, and those have gotten their lens back in same working order as how they sent them off. If you really do believe that your 18-35mm is sharper in areas. Which of course really can be that way. And if it is, its optical rating would improve somewhat. And if it is not, you just will know what most already know: that the rating is based on what they have tried to standardize their rating on, and that that does not have to match what we, individual photographers, like or find important in lenses. I do not think PZ was meant to be the be-all and end-all of lens evaluation.
